Donald Trump Inauguration LIVE Updates: Gearing up to take charge as the the 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump returned to Washington on Sunday morning (IST) ahead of the inauguration ceremony marking his return to power on Monday (Jan 20). Trump’s inauguration weekend which began with a 500-member celebration at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, includes 18 galas, with three official events he is expected to attend. On the eve of his second inauguration, he will take part in a “Make America Great Again Victory Rally”.
Who’s who expected at the ceremony: Outgoing President Joe Biden confirmed he will attend the ceremony, ensuring a peaceful transfer of power, something Trump skipped in 2021. Big tech CEOs including the likes of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and TikTok CEO Shou Chew are likely to be present.
When and where will the inauguration ceremony take place? For India, the ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10.30 pm IST. Trump is also scheduled to deliver his inaugural address, a speech that typically sets the tone for the presidency, after the oath is administered in the presence of US Chief Justice John Roberts. With a blast of Arctic air expected to leave the US capital facing frigid temperatures on Monday, Trump opted to move inside most of the outdoor events, including the swearing-in ceremony. The event will be held indoors for the first time since Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration in January 1985.
