This is just a concept by a fan
Marvel Rivals is going to be connected to a whole host of other Marvel projects going forward due to its immense success as one of the most popular games in the world at present, and the biggest Marvel-based video game hit in a long while. Now, it’s doing a crossover with Captain America: Brave New World, and players can get a free “mystery” skin out of it.
The crossover promises a “Marvel Rivals digital bundle” if you buy tickets through the Regal Crown Club, a subscription service for the Regal chain of theaters that offers free tickets and other benefits for the fee. If you buy Captain America: Brave New World tickets by 2/17 (the movie is out 2/14) you will get:
- A spray (Hulk holding the shield)
- A nameplate (New Sam Wilson Captain America)
- A “mystery costume”
It does seem like there is only a single costume that this could be, and it’s one that may aggravate some fans. What’s that costume?
The film features characters like Sidewinder, The Leader, Captain America and Red Hulk as its main additions to the MCU. Adding Sidewinder and Leader skins makes no sense as who would those even go on. NetEase wouldn’t dare to add Sam Wilson as a Steve Rogers Cap skin, changing the entire character and not being able to have wings. Sam Wilson Cap is not even in the leaked list of skins that may cover the next two years of content.
It’s Red Hulk. Obviously it’s Red Hulk. That would require changing Hulk’s skin color and face, but it seems far and away the most likely option here.
Captain America: Brave New World
However, things get a bit tricky when you consider who exactly changes into Red Hulk, President Thaddeus Ross. Given that the gangly Bruce Banner and hit little peashooter are the Hulk’s alter ego in Marvel Rivals they’d have to what, design an entirely different Thaddeus Ross skin?
If so, this would probably be one of the coolest Hulk skins there is. Even if it’s just Red Hulk alone, that would still be cool. But I think this would upset fans, limiting it to Regal Crown Club members where that’s A) a subscription service most people won’t want, B) Regal is not everywhere in the US and C) Regal is certainly not everywhere globally where Rivals has a huge playerbase.
But it really can’t be any other skin, can it? My guess is that if it is Red Hulk, they may add it to the game’s store later on. This does not say “exclusive” mystery skin in the promotion, just that it’s a mystery skin that exists. This would act as some sort of compromise and make sure everyone has access to it at some point.
If I’m wrong and this is some other skin, I’m wrong. But I truly don’t know who else it could be here. I also don’t know when this skin will actually be revealed, as we’re now a month away. I also don’t know why they wouldn’t just tell people now, as that would surely drive more ticket sales. We’ll see.
